This happens when they don't have a clear talking point given to them. They are reacting honestly. When people do, you get these crazy mix ups. In a few weeks (maybe less time than that) stronger positions for either side will be disseminated. Borders will be drawn, and armed with the correct talking points, polarization will return to normal.
