I got all sorts of problem when I was using the paid version of protonvpn with Archlinux. Now I don't pay for it anymore and last time I tried the free version it definitely improved a lot. Just the automatically created network interface doesn't play well when I disconnect so I think it set up a default route which doesn't get removed after disconnection (I didn't verify this assertion).
Maybe their service is good for netflix (I don't watch propaganda though so I don't know for that)
