NGC 1531/2: Interacting Galaxies
Captured by the 8-meter Gemini South telescope, this image shows interacting galaxies NGC 1531 and NGC 1532 in Eridanus, 55 million light-years away. Their gravitational interaction triggers star formation in the spiral galaxy's dust lanes, akin to the Whirlpool Galaxy.
