I love magnolias.
Magnolias have outlived ice ages, mountain formation, and continental drift. Fossilised magnolias have been found that date to about 95 million years ago
They were around before bees evolved and adapted to beetles being their main (only?) pollinators.
The flowers' carpels are extremely tough to avoid damage from pollinating beetles.
