Plus most of the legit generative AI use cases are for *editing* which is not NanoWriMo. I could see making sure to carve out an exception for dictation software, but that's not what they're doing here. If nano hadn't managed to already wreck the community they'd built that I loved, this would be the iron in the coffin for me. The "why" is obvious: they're sponsored by generative AI companies
