i really love that feature where #mastodon lets you add comments to accounts, that way i can remember the reason why i have muted someone, i can give them "strikes" before i unfollow, mute or block, and also i can add positive comments so that when something they say vexes me, and i go on their profile like "who exactly are you again?", i get a little message from past me that either says "makes me uncomfortable, block?" but also maybe it says "friendly helpful person!" and i can make much better choices.
it's a helpful coping tool, because my specific flavour of mentally fucked up means i have serious problems regulating my reaction when an interaction feels uncomfortable because everything immediately feels Dangerous. if i know that i have felt positively towards someone in the past, i can deal with any fuckups or misunderstandings much more gracefully without feeling like i am making myself vulnerable
