New dishwasher installed for its first wash cycle, hopefully no leaks.
The test rinse cycle in the middle of the kitchen did no leak.
And the drainage plumbing has one less tube, which should reduce the chance of failure.
Sad to say that the new dishwasher is not as fancy as the old one, but at least the plastic is intact; the old one was just falling apart.
Upside thus far only one trip to the hardware store was needed.
