Every time I see a writer who started in the 2010-2015 range that's like, "Uh, it's not hard to make a living as a writer” I want to challenge them to start a pen name, never once utilize their existing NL or fan base, and see just how easy it is now.
Of course there's no reason they would, what's the value to them?
Don’t begrudge them their success, but it's not the same industry it was nearly 10 years ago. Little less survivor bias and little more awareness wouldn’t hurt.
