# Small Business Cybersecurity Hygiene (easy & effective)
Keep your small business safe by doing these easy things:
1. Turn on and require 2 Factor Authentication - Best 2FA is a hardware key like Yubikey. Worst 2FA (but still better than none) is a phone number. You can also use Authenticator apps. Don't be the low-hanging fruit for hackers.
2. Patch and Update your software regularly - Updates are not just for cool new features. They fix bugs and patch vulnerabilities that can be used by hackers and malware to target your systems and data.
3. Use a Password Manager - This makes it easy to have a unique, hard-to-break password for each site.
4. Phishing Info Training - Conduct regular trainings with your team(s) to inform them how to spot phishing attempts. A lot of hacks are done by having people click links and reveal codes from what looks like legit sites.
5. Regular Offline Backups - Backup your data often. Keep some backups off-line.
