npub1thg2uwkyrd363n4jsdeavwh4xhgukp5u60s8ulwr265lu5pfyl9qjmelgd (npub1thg…elgd) I sincerely believe the disparities many people in tech cite against Musk are generational in nature. Gen Xers are built different, we just don’t have much empathy for first world problems.
The 1A is a whole other bag of worms. It was specifically created to protect unpopular speech and opinions, and Musk understands this and twists the screws on both sides to farm engagement and ragebait for his products & services. It’s genius really, especially if you have even a basic understanding of marketing and psychology. People respond to things they dislike 10X more than what they approve of online. They share their hatred to garner approval from peers, social media 101.
At the end of the day, the best way to combat backward / dated ideologies is to juxtapose them with better ones and rigorous debate in the marketplace of ideas, not call everything you disagree with racist / misogynistic / transphobic / etc… (as many who hate Musk - and really anyone that disagrees with the establishment narrative - often do).
Sorry, but all I hear are emotional / subjective arguments.
His contributions to humanity if he died today are empirical. Love him or hate him, he’s the Ford or Alexander Graham Bell of our time. My advice would be embrace his eccentricity and focus on the innovation, or just completely ignore him - you’ll be a lot less angry.
