What we do in the nixos community is we often take configs of other people that are more experienced with the syntax.
There is lots to learn but now I will never switch to another operating system, I just cannot fathom how an OS cannot be fully declarative now.

These configurations were also how I learnt most of the nix I know 😁.
I advise you to start, jump in the deep end and adapt the basic configuration with everything you need (and use the configurations that I sent you as an inspiration).
