Owens to Be Next Sekyra and White’s Professor of Moral Philosophy
David Owens, currently professor of philosophy at Kings College, London, will be moving to the University of Oxford, where he will be the Sekyra and White’s Professor of Moral Philosophy. Professor Owens works primarily on various subjects in moral philosophy, and has also written on topics on topics in political philosophy and epistemology, and also on causation. He is the author Bound by Convention (2022), Shaping the Normative Landscape (2012), Reason Without Freedom (2000), and Causes and Coincidences (1992). A collection of his papers, Normativity and Control, was published in 2017. You can learn more about his research here and here. The Sekyra and White’s professorship is one of the oldest in philosophy. Professor Owens will be taking it up in August of 2025.
