it should not be so hard to find a small (25-30mm length, two holes at 15mm spacing) corner bracket with a side brace that doesn't cost absurd amounts of money. the closest I can find is 2040 corner brackets but they're 38mm and are still sold at a ludicrous premium unless you buy on AliExpress.
