Martyrs Nicander and Marcian, Roman soldiers under Emperor Maximian, were converted by Hermolaus after witnessing his torture. They visited imprisoned Christians, bringing aid and burying the dead. Arrested for their faith, they refused to renounce Christ. Nicander, after surviving tortures, was beheaded. Marcian, witnessing Nicander's steadfastness, was also beheaded. O, Martyrs Nicander and Marcian, pray that we may be granted steadfast faith and courage in the face of adversity.
