Complicatedness can be fully understood using a reductionistic approach (i.e. understanding the parts).
Not so with complexity, because that shows, for example, emergent properties and non-linear effects. Learning about a complex system by reductionistic (instead of holistic) approaches makes one lose the essential properties of it.
One simple example for emergence: A H2O Molecule is not wet. Wetness is a emergent property of the interactions of many such molecules (aka Water).
