Like I don't know how to tell you this, but if "a certain culture of people" being like "I don't like that and tolerate that toxic bullshit in my life, nor do I trust people who would enable it" is going to destroy your idea of the fediverse, then fuck it.
Because people will always do what they want. It's the first rule of people, and the Internet. And herding cats.
People will, ultimately, do what they want. You can't be upset that they don't all largely go the way you want them to go and have their own independent choices.
You insisting that there's a certain "culture" here is just that:
This is what it looks like when people have the freedom to say "fuck no."
And it turns out there's a lot of those kinds of people with not just the freedom, but the willingness to say fuck no.
And do the job that our permissive "everything is just an opinion, man" society has refused to do.
