90% of (good!) movies are based on books. The same with anime, every good anime has a manga. Due to the fact that it is much cheaper and easier to draw, the plot in it is more intense and, most importantly, complete. And after manga, you can easily switch to books. To make this process less painful, I can offer a good horror manga “Junji Ito — Uzumaki” (1998) dedicated to strange events associated with spirals in the small town of Kurouzu-cho. #books #manga #anime
