After a week of distro hopping, I'm settling on Debian Bookworm with the MATE desktop on my Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. #linux
KDE is great, GNOME is nice but feels too heavy, MATE just feels comfortable and familiar for a guy with 40+ years of computing experience.
This machine will be blended in with my other computers, which run Linux, MacOS, and iOS/iPadOS.
As always, use what works best for you.
