I just warned an elderly lady about her license plate being half-off, about to be lost. (I noticed in a parking lot while out to get an ingredient.)

She immediately started showing me her covid mask collection from her purse (on them, Ruth Bader Ginsburg promotion, even after death) and then started recounting tales of political Tik Tok videos she saw.

Being elderly and lonely would be sad.
This is something more smug and sad than that.
