WordPress Civil War!
Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com are fighting in court
The non-profit .org blocked the for-profit .com from accessing critical resources, like plugins from being updated, because they claim they aren't "giving back", in other words, paying money for using the name and trademark.
Who is right? They both suck, I don't care about the complex history! This highlights that external plugins are barely under your control, and wordpress is bloat.
It's bad enough that people rely on some random developer of a third party plugin, but then on top of that, to wonder if the dictator WordPress organization will block your DNS access to that random developer's update? This is essentially allowing the WordPress organization to own your VPS.
