The beautiful thing about bitcoin is learning about time preference - Carl was and is right, there will not be a "coldest year on record" before the last SATs are mined in 2140.
If someone can come up with a bet structure in a secure multisig way to put money on the planet temperature "chart" I'd go all in and let it ride on Sagan.
Can it be done? Losing SATs evey year would help clarify the truth or not. : )
