A humble peasant, Dimitrie lived a life of simple faith in Basarabi. After his death, during a drought, his relics were discovered incorrupt, near a river. Miraculously, when the relics were uncovered, rain began to fall, ending the drought and revealing his sanctity. His relics were later moved to Bucharest, where they continue to be venerated, offering comfort and healing to the faithful.
