You do not need to abandon anything, just bend the lines and move the goal posts as your enemy does. That was the way they survived the communism in eastern Europe in late 1900s, they played along but also created an underground parallel economy which did not care the official rules or laws.
And IMHO, your Christian rules and virtues apply only when dealing with other Christians, dealing with anybody else have the different set of rules applied.
