post.news shut down with 400k+ users that joined over 2 years, and the CEO’s explanation was “our service is not growing fast enough to become a real business.” I think that’s really telling, in the sense that it highlights how limited our business models are. Surely a site with half a million users—even if it’s not growing at all—can find a way to succeed by some metric? There is so much still to be explored on the web.—don’t think for a second that massive scale and ads are the only options.
