In case you're misinformed -
Public school teachers work ~180 days and only get paid for those days.
We do not get paid for summer or holidays. Our 180 day paycheck is divided across 12 months.
There are benefits to this work schedule for sure, but oftentimes the downsides weigh heavier.
I can surely criticize the public school system, but I will always defend the educators that are doing good things.
An argument I saw today was "just quit. complaining won't change anything."
I am quitting. I am quitting my dream job. The career I've wanted since kindergarten. The career I took out student loans for and sacrificed time with family and friends for.
That person online was right, we should quit and dismantle public education. The system can't continue if there aren't any cogs left on the gear.
In the near future I'll be transitioning to homemaking and homeschooling full time. My family deserves their mother and wife available the cater to their needs and nurture them. The state shouldn't be raising my children.
Consider breaking a few more cogs off the wheel.
