Swedes are often super annoyed that their local runestone is not being kept free from moss with the carving neatly painted in. But they can't explain why their runestone is more important than the thousands of other ones we've got, nor why the care and accessibility of runestones in particular is more important than that of the hundred other categories of registered ancient monument.
