I have a PhD in Astrophysics, but still I have to look up the diameter of our Galaxy regularly because it’s unbelievable how huge it is. 100 000 light years. One Hundred Thousand Fucking Light Years.
Light that left our sun when Jesus was born will travel another 24 000 years before it reaches the galactic center. (It won’t, because it will be absorbed before, but I think you get the point.)
