A friend pointed something out to me the other day about the current situation with, e.g., the protests at Columbia -
The students who are engaging in these protests were brought up in a culture where they were taught from a very young age that school is not a safe place; that people will guns will come to kill them there; that the police are not going to show up until it's far too late; and that they have to barricade themselves in place and hold off armed resistance.
They've been trained for this their whole school career.
