Well, I tried again and figured it out. When I installed their installation manager and selected the all my plugins option, all of the checkboxes were disabled as was the download/install button. None of the Filter checkboxes were selected. This time I clicked the "Filter" checkboxes on the side and then everything enabled, and now one of them is always selected (ie you cannot uncheck all of them). So there's a nice little bug in the code, but at least I finally got it working.
