This is why knowing the Old Testament, especially Genesis (and even especially more Genesis 1-11) is so important. You can't understand the Gospel, a perfect, holy, all powerful God, and sin without its foundation. People who call themselves "New Testament Christians" are missing more than half of the truth. When Jesus was explaining the Gospel on the road to Emmaus, He didn't use New Testament Scripture; he used Old Testament Scripture. I hope when I get to heaven I can hear that sermon.
