- back when I was working on loop quantum gravity I thought it was dumb to claim it predicted violations of Lorentz invariance, because arguments for such violations were hand-wavy in the extreme: we didn't - and still don't - know enough about loop quantum gravity to make any such claims. We don't even know that loop quantum gravity predicts anything like the spacetime we see around us. Everyone who works on the subject should know that. But some people wanted to claim loop quantum gravity makes some testable predictions, so they stuck their neck out and made this 'prediction".

it's a lot like how some string theorists claimed it 'predicts' superpartners of mass accessible at the LHC. That's not a prediction of string theory. It's a personal decision that string theory 'should' predict that.
