Below is Eric Schmidt on #AGI:
"Intelligence is about to decouple from us. “The computers are now doing self-improvement. They don’t have to listen to us anymore.” Within six years: a mind smarter than the sum of humans -- scaled, recursive, free. We have no language for what’s coming."
Following are comments by Major Jason Lowery, who is an active US Space Force Officer and Astronautical Engineer striving to preserve US dominance in the digital age. He is also a US National Defense Fellow at MIT and the author of SoftWar: A Novel Theory on the Nation Strategic Significance of #Bitcoin.
Shit's about to get real...
From @JasonPLowery on X:
Now imagine a world where recursively self-improving AGI wields administrative control/influence over our information networks. That is the path we are headed down with AI already controlling many of our media feeds.
An obvious countermeasure is physically-derived and physically-anchored control over our most critical information networks, as opposed to strictly relying on logically-derived and encoded control. To that end, the argument could be made that to protect against AGI, humans must invent and maintain the ability to have physically-derived and physically-anchored control authority over their most vital information networks, like their monetary networks and strategic command-and-control (C2) infrastructure.
This is precisely what Proof-of-Work (PoW) networks like Bitcoin achieve. They preserve physically-derived (thus verifiably human) control over society's most essential information networks. We know with high confidence that the latest bits of information added to Bitcoin's base layer chain was added by humans, for humans, because of the extraordinary amount of real-world physical power required to earn the right to write each block.
