As of right now, the Nix program on GitHub reached 2963 issues opened VS 2962 issues closed
https://github.com/NixOS/nix/issuesI often look at this metric when evaluating an open source program.
If the total number of issues reached a certain threshold (let's say a few hundreds in a few years), when there are more opened issues than closed issues, this is often a sign of an unhealthy the project.
This is not always accurate of course, but it worked well for me so far.
