Yes, its website might be up and running, but the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, at least in its vibrant form which reflected change in the English language, is dead for sure. If you go to their website and look up any of the following, you'll find no definitions as a result of not updating the database over the past few years - really saddening, IMO, for a brilliant dictionary which was my go-to reference title for many years:
