Recently I heard from an old friend.
When I say old, I mean old.
When I was twenty, I was a single mom working two jobs as well as sewing and cleaning houses for people on the side.
My daughter was five years old.
A co-worker, who was the janitor at one of my workplaces, was also a student pursuing a career in photography. He asked if I would model for one of his assignments. I hemmed and hawed and finally said yes.
I remember that my condition was no naked.
He is old now, too, and has had a couple of careers, including photography, and was sorting through his archives. He found the prints from the photo shoot and thought I might like them.
Before I put them in the cedar chest, I took this photo of a photo.
A reminder to me that I was young once.
How kind of him to remember.
