First and foremost, when I was doing software dev, Rust was an absolute godsend. While you can write C/C++ code that is safe and relatively bug-free, and while that's been done for decades, it's also fucking hard. Writing C/C++ well takes way more expertise, significantly more testing and additional tooling; all stuff that adds more overhead and development time.
