My suspicion is that the Twitter model of global conversation is only possible on a centralized platform. It’s actually fairly unnatural, and since it’s unnatural it is unlikely to emerge here except through mimicry (at first). Which is to say, Nostr likely will not replace Twitter.
Instead the conversation will probably fragment by community and topic and the application layer and subsequent relays will evolve into a million different beautiful things bound together by a simple spec.
Twitter will go on being what it is, and Nostriches will continue to create new an interesting ways for the world to connect and exchange personal, tangible, and commercial value. And to me… this is the better outcome than simply replacing a very cool but mostly unnatural thing.
