I use a wedge with a neck contour pillow on top (Osteo Cervical Pillow -- also great!) but my wife just uses a wedge without a pillow.
The wedge I use is about 1m/3ft long and rises to a max height of about 20cm/8in. It's just right -- don't slide down too much or feel like I'm bent in half. I can sleep on back/sides without issue either way works.
The one my wife has is about 75cm long/30cm high. It's OK but I slide down that one too much.
