The prediction of the Great Fire of London in 1666 is one of Nostradamus' most famous predictions. He wrote in one of his quatrains: "The blood of the just shall be lacking in London; burnt in the fire of '66, the ancient war of '99". The "ancient war of '99" is believed to refer to the Anglo-Spanish War of 1585-1604, which hadn't yet begun when Nostradamus wrote this. The fire began in an area of London in 1666 and spread, destroying 13,000 homes before it was extinguished. It is thought that Nostradamus' prediction was a warning of what was to come.
