Today we remember three great saints:
1. St. Barbara the Great-Martyr.
2. St. John of Damascus, who codified the system of eight modes for church music.
3. St. Alexander Hotovitzky, who served as a Russian Orthodox priest in the USA, then returned to Russia, where he was executed by the Bolsheviks.
