That sucks.
For me federation will a 100% be an improvement over everything that's gone before: I'll once again have access to music industry accounts and be able to use my mastodon client to create lists based around subjects/hashtags, but avoid being subject to algorithmic feeds.
basically what Tweetbot used to be, but now my social craft is mine, and nobody can fuck with me and decide to buy it out from under me
