All true. Except, we don't need to do anything about plastic, we just need to stop using fossil fuels. Virgin petrochemical plastic is cheap because it's a byproduct of refining fossil fuels. It's like discovering a market for empty banana peels, if you stop eating bananas, you won't have any more banana peels to sell. Without fossil fuels, plastics become a much rarer resource.
