A productive way of analysing "bad" behaviour I found is asking: What would it take me to act this way? It makes you realise that a great deal of "bad" behaviour can be explained by how things are organised and the incentives that arise.
Say clickbait: The vast majority of sites do it for the money they earn for ads on their websites & because they don't have to fear any consequences for doing so. No idea how to fix that, but it gets you closer to identifying a practical remedy.
