Ask your questions!! Bitcoiners trend toward private so most aren’t offering up info into their personal lives. I also learned a few years ago some people don’t have what you think but they’ll gladly take the clout off your assumption. Then they’ll ignore you to protect their brand 😂 so it’s always best to ask.
A lot of people moving to El Salvador have or are escaping something and the country is offering refuge. These same people are also moving to an expat community. Though they are building bitcoin things — from what it looks like the community is 35+ y/o who have had time to build something substantial in their home country. The community is semi homogeneous and maybe they’ve created such a nice place for themselves they are ushering people to come explore it out of excitement hoping to grow their community. Many are bitcoiners and some aren’t. It doesn’t seem like they are working in ES to make a living. It’s more so like they’re working remotely but raising their families here. The cost of living is lower than most western countries but it’s by no means cheap. Anyone telling you that has found a way to exploit you.
The country is working to grow past its history of feudalism, corruption, and violence. People are poor and the wages for labor are low. Those who have do and those who have not won’t because they can’t. Many people who get it save with bitcoin but cash is still the preferred currency… that goes back to the lack of education stemming from decades of feudalism, corruption, and violence.
It’s a great place and it’s beautiful but there are inconveniences that will take time to work out. Thankfully, people are doing that! But expats who are starting great reputable businesses are working extremely hard. There are surfers and young people here working and building but they’re comfortable living in hostels/small apartments without certain amenities or they’ll co-op to living in the city. Things are more convenient and there is a range of affordability but it’s city living… no land, no space and classism.
I hope that answers some of your questions 🌻
