Hey there, I think this is a super interesting question and I do see an autistic thread running through it but I wonder if it is a situation where multiple things are happening.
I was raised by young parents and I related to my grandparents' generation more wrt spending money. I value keeping tools going because... it feels like there's life in something we use. Maybe the energy of the maker, or the user, idk. But I don't like throwing things away. Plus, I think about the components of a thing, the metals or wood... everything has a natural state, a sort of life as part of the earth and I resent all the thoughtless taking of that life just to make money. Plus, I think of time as hugely more valuable than money so...
