This is one of the big sticking points I find when discussing bitcoin with friends and family. The concept of “risk” is completely relative. Our society is brainwashed to believe that diversification is the safest way to mitigate risk. Meanwhile, being talked down to like a child and being told that putting all your eggs in one, volatile, basket (that preserves purchasing power and wealth) is extremely risky. Sigh.
A gentle reminder that risk only equals volatility in academia.
True financial risk is the chance of losing your purchasing power over time.
