It just makes predicting race times challenging.\n\nNow suppose I use the same calculater, but this with with 4.2 W/kg as my FTP/CP. Then it doesn't matter what my weight is, my marathon finish time ranges from 3:03:59 to 03:13:39.\n\nW/kg shows effort in the run, not total work averaged over the duration.
