Hi, I've succeeded to setup a RPI4 with Lightning in 2019 and lost everything (channels not saved) during a hardware failure
Back in the day, it was more challenged to run a node on a RPI4 but way more simple to open channel with low amount, nodes were not trying to charge huge fees and were well balanced
I've recreate my node with ease by using Umbrel but about channels, it has become a nightmare in my opinion to find =
- a node willing to open channels under 1M sats
- a node that have inbound & outbound liquidity
- a node that charges only 1 sat per tx
I've opened a channel with one of the top 3 well connected nodes = 1ML ALPHA and end-up with no way to use my sats as no routes were found on each attempt
So I close it and open a new one with another node well connected (CoinPayments) and this time, it's work to send my sats but even after creating inbound capacity by sending thousands of sats to another wallet, there was no way to receive sats through my node
Then I've found another one who was willing to connect for 100k but the base fee were 200 sats!
And most of good nodes well balanced with small fees only accept to connect if you have more than 1M or even 5M sats...
Amboss provide information about it, but you need to check 1 by 1 every node to find the minimum channel size and fees
Honestly it has become a nightmare in comparaison at the early stage of LN...
Is there a way to find a spreadsheet or website that make a ranking about minimum size channel, base fees, and see if the node is well balanced to be able to send or receive payment?
I'm not interested to become a node operator, I just want to control my own sats from my own node through a private channel with around 200k sats
