What homeserver did you move to, and what app were you using?
Moderation does exist outside matrix.org in a way similar to fediblock, and most other homeservers are cooperative. Unfortunately 1. it's mostly reactive (thus cannot adapt to, say, someone using random names on a large homeserver, though to be fair, neither does Mastodon), and 2. it requires hosting a bot (this is getting addressed).
