The one thing I wish I had on this Ubuntu laptop is Scrivener
I do nearly all my journalism using it, keeping the projects in Dropbox so I can zip between my mac and windows machines
But I can't use Scrivener on Ubuntu -- there's no native app, and when I use Wine it can't sync via dropbox with the other machines
